Day By Day Girona Road Cycling Holiday

We can tailor make this trip for you
Day 1Arrival

Arrive in Barcelona or Girona and we will be waiting to take you to the hotel. Check in and relax or explore the wonderful medieval town of Girona. You can pick up your bicycle on arrival and head for a spin out to Olot or any of our routes, all of which we have in digital format.

Remember this trip can be fully tailor made so you can choose from a number of hotels. routes and bike hire. If you prefer a completely alternative itinerary adding  any days, just let us know.

Day 2Els Angels

The Els Angels climb and loop is one of the most famous routes in Girona and we recommend you try this today. It is a favourite of the pros and you might well see them on the roads, and certainly on your Strava segments. Els Angels is a great welcome to Girona too as the route crosses the Les Gavarres mountains twice but the ride is a relatively easy 60km route. You can also, if you want to add some mileage to the ride, follow the 2009 Tour de France route out to Cass  de la Selva.

Day 3The Rocacorba climb

This ride has been made famous by David Millar and features one of the highest and the most challenging mountains in Girona, the Rocacorba climb.

This climb has gained notoriety in recent years for its relentless, brutal nature. It will certainly challenge you with a steep gradient and long distance. Keep an eye out for professionals who use this ride for training.

Today’s cycling is approximately 75km with an ascent of 1,200m.

The cycling season begins as early as March and April which offers cool Spring riding. The weather gets progressively warmer into May and June.
The SummerJune to August
Catalonia is hot in the summer and can be quite humid. This is tempered by the breeze on the coast so you can enjoy some excellent coastal cycling in the summer.
The AutumnSeptember to October
Autumn is a great time to cycle in Catalonia. The summer heat has passed and the weather becomes cooler, especially towards the Pyrenees to the north. Mid to late October can become quite wet.
The WinterDecember to February
The winter tends to be wet and temperatures can become quite cold, especially in the heart of winter.
