WE LOVELuxury La Manga Resort
La Manga offers the ultimate sport holiday. Join the locals on a ride from La Manga through the Portman hills in the morning and play a round of golf or a tennis match in the afternoon. La Manga is synonymous with high performance and a place you can completely relax. With saunas, steam rooms, an indoor pool and a gym, the resort is the perfect destination for a cycling holiday.
WE LOVEMurcia Sunshine & Unexplored Roads
Murcia is one of the sunniest regions in Europe meaning you can ride deep into the autumn and even winter, with the sun on your back. Ride through the Portman hills where Alejandro Valverde rides or head up to Los Alcázares and climb the Cabezo de la Plata. These quiet roads have almost no traffic and offer stunning views over crystal blue waters.

What's Included

Day By Day La Manga Cycling Holiday

We can tailor make this trip for you
Day 1Arrive into Murcia

Arrive into Murcia and you will be picked up and taken to La Manga, a 30 minute drive away. Settle in to the resort, go for a steam or a sauna or just enjoy a book by the pool in the afternoon.

Remember this is a specific itinerary but we can completely customise it.

Day 2The Portman Hills

Today is a great day to acclimatise yourself to riding in Murcia, with a loop of Cartagena. Your ride will head out of La Manga towards Portman and into the Portman Hills. This is the staple of Alejandro Valverde who lives in Murcia and you can follow in his tyre tracks down to Caratagena Bay. Stop for a coffee in Cartagena (we recommend the Coffee Lab) overlooking the water before a climb to Cruz Chiquita. From there, you will loop back round and you can add on the La Manga peninsular or ride back through the Parque Regional de Calblanque.

Day 3Cabezo de la Plata

You will ride out towards Portman where you can descend the Green Mile, a 1 mile stretch of road that has a green cycle lane beside it. Rather than heading out towards Cartagena, you will ride up from Portman to Cruz Chiquita, a punchy climb to get your heart rate up. From here, you will ride north past Roldan before you start to climb gradually. The climbing continues on for about 20km before reaching Alto Garruchal where you can grab a coffee at the cafe before a great 10 km descent to Torreaguerra. You then have a 12km ascent, averaging 3% to Cabezo de la Plata. From here, it’s all downhill back to La Manga.

Total distance135kmTotal climb1450m
Day 4Mar Menor

Today we recommend that you ride up the coast to Mar Menor. You will ride out past the Calblanque Regional Park before heading north up the coast. You will hug the coastline all the way up to Los Alcázares where you can relax in town with a drink or some lunch overlooking the water. From there, you have the option to loop back through quiet farmland to La Manga, or to extend your day and ride the reverse side of Cabezo de la Plata.

Day 5Departure

Today you will be taken back to Murcia airport but remember, our trips are entirely tailor made and bespoke so this itinerary can be altered in any way you want.
